Blur Image

Soften a whole photo, or hide faces, license plates, addresses and chat messages with a blur or pixelation — before the image ever leaves your device.

Your files are processed in this browser tab and never leave your device.

Blurring is the quickest way to protect privacy in screenshots and photos: hide a phone number in a chat, a child's face in a group photo, a car's license plate, or the account details in a dashboard before you post it.

Choose "Selected areas" and drag boxes over anything you want to hide; draw as many as you need. Switch between a smooth blur and pixelation (mosaic), and raise the strength until the detail is unreadable. Choose "Whole image" for a soft background or a frosted-glass look.

Because the blurring happens in your browser, the unblurred original is never uploaded anywhere — which is exactly what you want when the point is privacy.

Frequently asked questions

Is blurring enough to hide sensitive text?

Use a high strength or pixelation for text such as passwords, card numbers or addresses. Light blur on large text can sometimes still be read. For the strongest protection, pixelate at maximum strength or crop the area out entirely.

Can I blur only part of a picture?

Yes. Switch to Selected areas and drag a box over each part you want to hide. Only the inside of the boxes is blurred; the rest of the photo stays sharp.

What is the difference between blur and pixelate?

Blur smooths detail into a soft haze and looks natural on backgrounds and faces. Pixelate replaces the area with large single-color blocks, the classic mosaic look, which hides text more reliably.

Can I blur the background behind a person automatically?

Not in this free tool — it blurs the areas you choose. You can approximate a background blur by blurring the whole image, or by boxing the background areas around the person.
