HEIC to JPG Converter

Turn iPhone photos into JPG files that open on Windows, Android and every website. Convert one photo or a whole batch, right in your browser.

Your files are processed in this browser tab and never leave your device.

Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default. HEIC files are about half the size of a JPG at the same quality, but many places still refuse them: older Windows PCs, some Android galleries, online forms, print shops and most website upload fields.

This converter decodes HEIC with a WebAssembly build of libheif that runs inside your browser, then re-encodes each photo as a standard JPG. Nothing is sent to a server, so you can convert family photos, ID scans or work documents without handing them to anyone. Photos keep their full resolution and are turned the right way up.

Tip: if you only need JPGs going forward, set iPhone Settings → Camera → Formats to "Most Compatible". For photos you already have, drop them here.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Add your HEIC photos

Drag .heic or .heif files onto the box, or tap it to pick from Files or your photo library. You can add many at once.

  2. 2

    Pick a quality

92% is visually identical to the original for almost every photo. Lower it if you need smaller files for email or forms.

  3. 3

    Download the JPGs

Save each photo on its own, or download all of them together as one ZIP file.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I open HEIC files on Windows?

Windows needs the paid HEVC Video Extensions from the Microsoft Store to display HEIC. Converting to JPG avoids the codec entirely, and the JPG opens in any photo viewer, browser or editing app.

Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so every conversion discards a little detail. At the default 92% quality the difference is not visible at normal viewing sizes. The JPG will usually be one and a half to two times larger than the HEIC.

Is the photo's location and camera data kept?

No. The converter draws the decoded picture onto a canvas and saves a fresh JPG, so EXIF data such as GPS location, camera model and capture time is not copied over. That makes the output safer to share publicly.

How many HEIC files can I convert at once?

There is no fixed limit. Files are converted one after another so your device does not run out of memory. On a phone, batches of 20–30 photos work smoothly; on a computer you can add hundreds.

Can I convert HEIC to PNG instead of JPG?

This page outputs JPG because it is the most widely accepted photo format. If you want to keep as much detail as possible, move the quality slider to 100% before adding your photos.
